Musical (Greg Stratton, Instructor)

Worked on blocking for Act Two. Finished in 3 days and ran the Second Act twice on Thursday and Friday. Sang songs with show music tracks. We will start running show in Week 4.

Drawing (Shawna Nile Batchelor, Instructor)

Monday, June 22
Students practiced doing contour and blind contour drawings using a stuffed Grogu (Baby Yoda) doll. Some students continued with more finished sketches using shading, while others focused on sketches in preparation for their final drawings for the art show.

Tuesday, June 23
Students sketched out their final project drawings. One student asked if they could work on an art piece inspired by a piece they wrote in another class, which I gladly allowed– I love crossover like this, where appropriate.

Wednesday, June 24
Students continued working on their final projects and/or individual studies.

Thursday, June 25
Students continued working on their final projects and/or individual studies.

Friday, June 26
We walked next door to McNeese Fine Art’s Grand Gallery at to see the Calcasieu Parish School Board Talented Art Program’s Student Art Show. Afterward, we walked through the Fine Arts building checking out the ceramics, cardboard sculptures, and paintings in the halls. When we got back to the classroom, students still had some time to work on their drawings.

One of the best parts of the program

for me was, for once, it allowed me to be one of the "normal" kids, instead of the "brainiac" nerd. I cherish that gift.
